Singapore Digital Support

Singapore government now encourages SMEs and other companies to undergo digital transformation and start their business online. This becomes extremely important especially during Covid-19 period, digital transformation allows business to thrive online platforms and develop resilience. In this blog, I would introduce a few Singapore digital support introduced that Singapore support SMEs to go digital.

Our Singapore Fund for Digital Readiness

  • Our Singapore Fund for Digital Readiness aims to empower more passionate Singaporeans to play a part in spearheading community projects to prepare fellow Singaporeans to seize the benefits of the digital future.

Have an idea on how to further strengthen Digital Readiness in the community? Our Singapore Fund for Digital Readiness provides funding of up to 80% of supported costs for your idea, subject to a maximum of $20,000 per project. Projects that merit higher funding will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Who are eligible for Singapore Digital Support:

  • Group of individuals
    • A group of at least two individuals (Singaporeans / Permanent Residents) who are 18 years and above, with the main applicant being a Singaporean who resides in Singapore
  • Organisation
    • A Not-for-Profit organisation that is a Public Company Limited by Guarantee with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA), or Society registered with Registry of Societies (ROS), or Charitable Trust registered with the Commissioner of Charities (COC), or Co-Operative registered with the Registry of Co-operative Societies, or Trade Union registered with Registry of Trade Unions, or Social Enterprise with raiSE
    • A Company that is registered with Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA)

When to apply:

Application windows are open as follows:

  • 15 March to 15 May
  • 15 June to 15 August
  • 15 September to 15 November
  • 15 December to 15 February

Digital Resilience Bonus

Digitalisation is a key enabler for businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity, so that they can emerge stronger. It will also help businesses to be more resilient and adapt to new post-COVID norms.

The Digital Resilience Bonus (DRB) aims to uplift the digital capabilities of a broad base of enterprises. For a start, DRB will be targeted at the Food Services and Retail sectors which are more affected by safe distancing requirements in the reopening of the economy.

The DRB is given on top of enhanced digitalisation assistance provided under the SMEs Go Digital programme. Food Services and Retail enterprises that have PayNow Corporate, e-invoicing, and use pre-defined categories of digital solutions for Business Processes, Digital Presence and Data Mining and Analytics can receive bonus payouts of up to $10,000.

Eligibility criteria check:

1. Does my UEN fall under the Food Services or Retail sectors as at 26 May 2020?

SectorQualified Primary SSIC as at 26 May 2020 
 Food Services List of Food Services SSIC (499.76KB)
 Retail List of Retail SSIC (577.28KB)

2. Is my UEN incorporated on or before 26 May 2020?

3. Does my UEN have an active PayNow Corporate account?

4. Is my UEN on the Peppol e-invoicing network?

If your answer is ‘Yes’ to all the above, you can proceed to assess your eligibility for Category 1, 2 or 3 below.

If any of your answers is ‘No’ in this checklist, you may seek assistance from supporting organisations on how to fulfill the eligibility criteria. You may also approach your preferred Supporting Bank to help you with your PayNow Corporate account and registering your UEN on the Peppol e-invoicing network.

Category 1 – Business Process Solutions ($2,500 payout)

5. Is my enterprise using all 3 qualified solutions below at least once a month?

Food Services:
AccountingHR/PayrollDigital Ordering (Dine in/Takeaway)
Retail:AccountingHR/PayrollInventory Management

If your answer is ‘Yes’, you are eligible for a $2,500 payout, provided your Solution Provider (or Supporting Bank) submits your UEN to IMDA, when there is evidence of your usage. You can help to remind your Solution Provider to do so.

Category 2 – Digital Presence ($2,500 payout)

6. Is my enterprise using a qualified solution to enable sales via an Online Shopfront OR via Online Food Delivery at least once a month? OR is my enterprise making purchases on an e-Procurement platform at least once a month?

If your answer is ‘Yes’, you are eligible for a $2,500 payout, provided your Solution Provider (or Supporting Bank) submits your UEN to IMDA, when there is evidence of your usage. You can help to remind your Solution Provider to do so.

Category 3 – Data Mining and Analytics ($5,000 payout)

7. Is my enterprise using a qualified solution for Data Mining and Analytics to obtain insights on how to improve my operations at least once a month?

If your answer is ‘Yes’, you are eligible for a $5,000 payout, provided your Solution Provider (or Supporting Bank) submits your UEN to IMDA, when there is evidence of your usage. You can help to remind your Solution Provider to do so.

Industry Digital Plans

Regardless of which stage you are at on the digitalisation journey, you will be supported with step-by-step advice on the digital technologies to use through the Industry Digital Plans (IDPs). Take the self-test to find out how digital-ready your business is and the steps to take to further your digital efforts.

The sector-specific IDPs, developed by IMDA and sector lead agencies, are central to the SMEs Go Digital programme that makes going digital simple for SMEs.

Benefits:

The IDPs provide SMEs of various sectors with an easy-to-use, step-by-step guide on the digital solutions to adopt at each stage of growth and the training programmes to enhance employees’ digital skills.

For a start, you can use the IDP for your sector to find out if your business is digital-ready and identify opportunities to boost growth and productivity.

Start Digital Pack

Start Digital was launched in January 2019 to help new SMEs start their business right with foundational and competitively-priced digital solutions.

If you are an SME that has just started your business or is new to digital technology, you can now take up a Start Digital Pack under this initiative of the SMEs Go Digital programme, to give you a head start in going digital.

Eligibility:

  • Newly-incorporated SMEs
  • SMEs that are new to using digital technology

Benefits:

All SMEs can benefit from starting with the right foundational digital tools, which will help position your business well for growth, resilience and productivity.

Grow Digital

Grow Digital is an initiative by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and Enterprise Singapore (ESG) under the SMEs Go Digital programme. Under this initiative, SMEs can participate in Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) e-commerce platforms to sell overseas without a need for physical presence.

Eligibility:

SMEs who are willing and ready to seize business opportunities in overseas markets can tap on Grow Digital to get a head start in going global.

Any business entity registered/incorporated in Singapore that meets the following requirements:

  • At least 30% local shareholding; and
  • Group annual turnover not exceeding S$100 million per annum based on the most recent audited report, or group employment not exceeding 200 employees.
  • Additional requirement for the MEP Programme: annual overseas sales not exceeding S$100,000 (online) for each of the three preceding years.

B2B and B2C e-commerce platforms are selected for their strong networks with complementary business service providers (e.g. logistics and financing), good track records and experience in operating in multiple overseas markets.
